After making his critically-acclaimed debut asSpider-ManinCaptain America: Civil War,Tom Hollandis getting ready to roll out his first standalone movie,Spider-Man: Homecoming. It still remains to be seen when the first trailer will be released, but until then,Tom Hollandhas dropped some interesting details in a new interview. As it turns out, his version of the web-slinger doesn’t actually punch anyone.
Spider-Man: Homecomingwill bring backRobert Downey Jr.as Tony Stark, who recruited him to fight for Team Iron Man inCaptain America: Civil War. While Spidey did see plenty of action in the massive airport fight scene, he was largely just defending himself with his Spidey skills. During an interview withThe Hollywood Reporter, the actor revealed that this trend will continue inSpider-Man: Homecoming, since Peter Parker never throws a punch in this movie.
“You’ve seen the billionaire, the scientist, the soldier. Now it’s time to see the kid. And every decision we make on set is based off how would a kid react in this situation, so every fight scene we have is designed in a way that’s almost child-friendly, so he never actually punches anyone. It’s all done kind of by accident. I think the biggest difference is hisyouth and innocence.”
Shortly afterCaptain America: Civil Warhit theaters, the first big-screen Spider-Man,Tobey Maguirerevealed on social media thatTom Hollandis “great asSpider-Man.“Tom Hollandalso revealed in this latest interview that he hasn’t actually spoken with eitherTobey MaguireorThe Amazing Spider-ManstarAndrew Garfield, but he has re-watched all of their movies again to prepare for his turn asSpider-Man. “I actually haven’t been in contact with them. But it’s so lucky because I’ve got five movies that I can draw from. I watched every single one years before I even got cast in this movie. And then we watched them all again and just picked little things that I thought was great and that I’d like to keep.”
