Fans have been buzzing about his introduction ever since, with those attending CinemaCon in Las Vegas last night in for another surprise. The actor made a surprise appearance at the very end of Sony’s panel, where it was revealed that hisSpider-Manreboot is titledSpider-Man: Homecoming. Sony has provided a new interview with the 19-year-old star, where he speaks about stepping into Peter Parker’s shoes.
“(It’s) the most surreal feeling ever. We’re going to get to see a kid whose trying to do his algebra homework, but also [trying to] make New York a safer place, so it’s a really fun balance between the two.”
While other studios like Warner Bros. kicked off their CinemaCon presentations by putting their big guns up front, like WB’s upcomingDC Comicsadaptations, Sony Pictures' chairmanTom Rothmansaved his best for last, which he added was an homage to the showmanship of the lateSteve Jobs. The chairman first pretended to connect with youngTom Hollandthrough a live Skype call from the HollywoodpremiereofCaptain America: Civil War. But the actor then walked on stage, introducing himself as the newSpider-Manbefore revealing new footage featuring this iconic Marvel superhero.
The scene shows Peter Parker returning home only to findAunt May(Marisa Tomei) on the couch with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Peter is quite taken aback that Iron Man himself is in his living room. When Stark tells Parker that he’s come to discuss the grant that Peter wanted. Peter asks if this grant involves money, to which Stark replies “It is well funded, but yeah, look who you’re talking to.” This scene was actually part ofCaptain America: Civil War, and not the upcomingSpider-Manmovie.
