According to show organiser Geoff Keighley, Summer Game Fest this week will focus mainly on already announced games, but there are some new announcements incoming.
Summer Game Fest 2022 Sets to be ‘Primarily Focused’ on Announced Games
In a recent Twitter Spaces audio session (which was transcribed by VGC) Summer Game Fest producer Geoff Keighley shared a few details about the upcoming show that kicks off this Thursday. Keighley expressed he is “very excited” for the show teasing “massive games” to be spotlighted along with more independent titles. We can expect a show that will be around an hour and a half to two hours. He also explained that this showcase will have a main focus on titles that have already been announced:
We’ve got a couple of new game announcements in the show and hopefully some surprises if everything holds. But it definitely is a show that’s primarily focused on stuff that is announced.

He also cautioned viewers to “manage your expectations in terms of the megaton shocks that you’re expecting” which is pretty good advice as many rumours and supposed leaks tend to happen around this time, with many turning out to be usually false. He also states that “This is notThe Game Awards” meaning that while there will be announcements, updates and new trailers, it’s usually at The Game Awards when a lot of major reveals happen. In that regard, it’s best to curb those high hopes is what I’m getting from this message.
However, there is still going to be “lots of good stuff”. Keighley shared a few titles we can count on seeing such as a first level playthrough of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, new footage ofCuphead The Delicious Last Coursewhich will be released at the end of June. Then there is also an appearance by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson who will probably be talking about his feature in the recent Fortnite Collision event for The Foundation. A “reveal” and news was also mentioned pertaining Gotham Knights getting some new footage. you may also look forward to seeing the first gameplay demo of Deep Space-inspired horror survival game The Callisto Protocol which was revealed at Playstation State of Play this June.
He briefly touched upon The Xbox and Bethesda Showcase which will be taking place on Sunday but didn’t hint at what could be shown. We should be getting a look at Starfield at some point, as the recent delay by Bethesda promised adeep dive coming soon. Redfall the open-world first-person vampire shooter co-op was also delayed, but we may get some updates during the showcase also. If you want more about the NASA punk themed RPG, be sure to drop by our Starfield wiki.
