It’s amazing what one good tv show can do for a languishing franchise. Star Wars was just about ready to go on the back burner for a while until The Mandalorian reminded people of why they cared in the first place. Rather than retreading a story already told it came up with something at least a little bit new, although fans of Lone Wolf & Cub might have noticed a few similarities. Every week for two too-short seasons Mandalorian Din Djarin and his ward Baby Yoda/Grogu get caught up in someone else’s plot line while advancing their story a little more, slowly building up the cast in a corner of the Star Wars universe hit hard by the fall of the Empire. Disney was caught completely by surprise by The Mandalorian’s popularity, as evidenced by the complete lack of merchandise at the start of the series, and has been working overtime ever since to plug the gaps. It just isn’t Star Wars without a pinball attached, and today Stern has officially released the information on its table for The Mandalorian.
Like all Stern pinballs The Mandalorian comes in three versions- Pro, Premium, and Limited. The Pro table is the introductory version, relatively inexpensive as pinball goes at $6,199, while Premium has more features to justify its $7,799 price tag and the Limited is an extra-shiny version totaling 750 units total clocking in at $9,199. The table is dominated by a large Grogu puppet and the head of the Mandalorian, each with its own features. Grogu uses a magnet to exert force-control over the pinball, while the Mandalorian head works as a mini-playfield that tilts during play to change the speed of the ball. The official unveiling also comes with an explanatory video giving out more details on the table features, such as the Razor Crest target lane and a hurry-up style Ambush feature. It’s a fantastic-looking table with a ton of personality, and brings with it the hope that real-world pinball will be playable again one day soon.
