It was in February on “Pokemon Day” when Nintendoannounced that Pokemon Sword and Shieldwould be coming to theNintendo Switchthis year. Featuring a trailer showing off some of the surroundings trainers will encounter with a rather small town feel, with some grassy plains and unveiling that random encounters are making its way back into the game. It also introduced new Pokemon in the form of a monkey type creature called Grookey, a bunny with flames aptly called Scorbunny, and a lizard type that has the ability to go invisible in water called Sobble.

For a refresher of the Nintendo Direct that announced the title you can watch it below:

While the release date was not announced, the trailer shared that it would be coming to the Switch towards the end of 2019. While the placement image doesn’t reveal much of what is planned for the Direct, it does say it will be 15 minute presentation. Could they be announcing the release date? Or will they be saving that one for theirE3 2019 press conference. It could be another gameplay presentation showing more of the features that are coming with Sword and Shield. WhilePokemon Let’s Gowas the first title to launch on the Switch (unless you count the free-to-start title Pokemon Quest), it lacked a lot of features that fans of the series knew well. Sword and Shield sets to be the more complete RPG version that has been awaited on the Switch. Since Let’s Go interacts with the popular appPokemon Go, it’s a wonder if there will be some sort of interaction with Sword and Shield as well.

If you’re tuning in for presentation you can catch it on theNintendo Youtube channelor you can visit thislivestream link to set a reminderso you don’t miss it.

Pokemon Sword and Shieldwill launch on the Nintendo Switch late 2019.
