Oda Nobunaga is, perhaps, one of the most famous (or infamous) feudal lords of Sengoku period Japan. His goal was simple: unify all of Japan under his banner, and he actually got very close to achieving it. But it was not to be, and Japan wouldn’t unify until his successor managed to complete his work.
What if Nobunagahaddone it, though? How would that play out? Well, history and tactics fans can find out for themselves now thatNobunaga’s Ambition: Awakeningis available on PS5 and Switch 2. This new package not only includes the original base version of the game but also all DLC, six new scenarios and “Decisive Battles” mode, so there’s actually good reason for all fans to check it out.

Some of the six new scenarios players can fight through in Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition are historical, while others are hypothetical. Those wanting to get to know some of the people who made Oda Nobunaga the man he was can try out the “Birth of Nobunaga” and interact with figures like Oda Nobuhide (Nobunaga’s father) and the strategist Amago Tsunehisa.
One can’t help but wonder why it was Nobunaga and not Nobuhide who’s most remembered for trying to pull Japan together.

There’s also “Fateful Clash,” which takes place immediately after the Honnōji Incident, where Akechi Mitsuhide betrayed and attacked Nobunaga. As for hypotheticals, these include “Absence of Great Conflict,” which takes players back to 1547 and explores how events might have played out had the Oda clan continued to rise without the Ōnin War breaking out.
Challenge the status quo with Decisive Battles.
The newly added Decisive Battles feature pits neighborhood rival clans against each other in an all-out fight to see who will finally reign over the other. The process begins once two adjacent territories meet certain conditions, leading to two opening assault siege battles.
From there, both clans get six months to prepare for a single large-scale battle. During the preparation period, players can strategize and work to maximize their advantages for the big clash. Once the dust settles and the battle is decided, the victorious clan gains complete control over their former rivals' domain. In other words, these battles can very well decide the fates of entire regions.

Along with this new feature and additional scenarios, players can look forward to new character traits for leaders, improved 3D rendering quality, mouse support and 4K resolution support (PS5 only). Those who already own the base version of Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening will get the Decisive Battles feature in a free update, but the new scenarios will only be available as paid DLC.
