Mounts are very important in New World: Aeternum, primarily for their ability to take you from point A to point B faster (No more walking across the map!). This guide will take you through everything you need to know about acquiring and leveling your mount quickly—from unlocking the mount quest to mastering time trials. Whether you want to blaze across the landscape on horseback or tackle thrilling races, you’re in the right place. Let’s ride in!

First Steps to Unlock Mounts in New World: Aeternum

Starting off as a Level 0 in New World: Aeternum means you will have togrind your way up to Level 20to unlock the mount quest. The mount quest must be completed to unlock and use your mount. Once you reach Level 20, the mount quest will automatically pop up on your quest list.

Located in North Everfall on the borders of Everfall and Brightwood, you must visit theHorse Whisperer Jochi Khan at his Stable Inn. He’ll introduce you to the lore of “Beast Lords” in Aeternum and propose the quest: “My Kingdom For A Horse“.

Upon completing the quest you will receive a horse namedMoonshadowas a reward, also unlocking the ability to summon and ride your mount. Jochi Khan then proposes another quest: “Hermit’s Rally“. This is a practice race to get you used to summoning and riding a mount.

In the Mount menu, you will see that there are four different types of mounts, namely Horses, Dire Wolves, Lions, and Bears.

Tip:Stay on the path. Going off the path significantly slows down your horse.

Hungry As A Horse Quest Walkthrough

After completing the quest:Hungry As A Horse, a quest called:Warrior’s Path Circuitwill pop up in your quest list.

A series of time trials will also pop up in your quest list:

Note:There are two types of time trials, namely, Rallies and Tours.While a Rally has a series of checkpoints with time limits in between each, a Tour has one checkpoint (the endpoint) with a longer time limit afforded to the player). Tours require players to plot their fastest course to reach the endpoint before beginning.

Below, we have a guide in chronological order on where to find each of these rallies.

Radiant Hills Rally

This is the closest rally to Jochi Khan’s Stable Inn. As you make your way out of Jochi Khan’s Stable Inn, turn left and continue on the path. A marker will pop up, leading you to a Rally Board. Read the Rally Board and accept the mount quest:Radiant Hills Rally.

The starting line will be on your left. Summon Moonshadow and beat the time trial.

Completing this time trial will give you 15300 EXP, and you will reachLevel 49in Riding skill.

Dogma Tour

Your next rally is approximately 2 km from where you ended the Radiant Hills Rally. Ride to Daybreak Borough in Everfall. It is directly outside the Syndicate Headquarters. Read the Rally Board and accept the mount quest: “Dogma Tour“.

Stay aware, for the Corrupted on the farm next to the Rally Board are above Level 20 and won’t waste time in taking a shot at you.

The starting line will be at the foot of the hill you came up on. Your destination: Covenant Shrine (Nettlerest Graveyard) in Everfall.

Completing this time trial will give you 15300 EXP, and you will reachLevel 61in Riding skill.

The next two rallies are close to the Oxboro Village settlement in Everfall. you’re able to either recall to Jochi Khan’s Stable Inn or fast travel to the point nearest to the time trials.

King’s Road Tour

Upon reaching Oxboro Village, check in at the inn. Due to there being two time trials here, it’ll be easier to recall back to the Oxboro Village Inn once you’ve completed the first.

After exiting from the Western gate of Oxboro Village settlement, the Rally Board will be a short walk up the hill. Read the Rally Board and accept the mount quest: “King’s Road Tour“.

The starting line will be on the path towards the left of the Rally Board. Your destination: Prydwen Castle in Monarch’s Bluff. This should be familiar to new players as Monarch’s Bluff is where you spend most of your time at the beginning of your Aeternum journey.

Completing this time trial will give you 15300 EXP, and you will reachLevel 71in Riding skill.

Recall to the Oxboro Village Inn and make your way to the same place you began.

Stolen Shores Rally

Just ahead of the King’s Road Tour Rally Board, you will find the Rally Board for the next time trial. Read the Rally Board and accept the mount quest:Stolen Shores Rally.

Reach all checkpoints within their designated time limits, and you will finish the race at Stonereach.

Completing this time trial will give you 15300 EXP, and you will reachLevel 81in Riding skill.

Ghosts and Groves Tour

The final time trial is located in Brightwood. Recall to Jochi Khan’s Stable Inn or fast travel to the fast travel shrine closest to the quest.

The Rally Board is directly across the fast travel point, at the foot of the hill. Read the Rally Board and accept the mount quest: “Ghosts and Groves Tour“.

The starting line is just up the hill on the bend. Your destination: Calvary Hamlet in Brightwood.

Completing this time trial will give you 15300 EXP, and you will reachLevel 91in Riding skill.

Recall back to Jochi Khan’s Stable Inn to complete the quest. He will tell you about a man named Francois in Weaver’s Fen, a skilled horseman to challenge. But, he warns you to be wary of trusting him.
