Netflix is the biggest streaming platform in the world. It offers one of the biggest catalogs for cinemas of all different types. On top of this, they also produce their content, having been responsible for some of the biggest projects in recent times, with some perfect examples being,Stranger Things, Black Mirror, Arcane,andThe Sandman. Each of these held great significance in media upon their releases and have have had some or the other impact on media.
It seems that this streaming giant has dabbled in every genre there is, having something for everyone to watch, regardless of what they’re looking for. According to an interview with Scott Stuber, the Head of Netflix Film, recently revealed that despite this, they are looking to expand their horror content and create a significant project that has an impact that resembles that of Freddie Krueger or Michael Myers.

Netflix Is Looking To Make More Horror
During a recent interview withCollider, Scott Stuber started by talking about one of the most recent horror projects released byNetflix,Fear Street, a compilation of short films based on a book series by R.L. Stine. He teased a new part in that franchise, for which the script is being worked on and they are excited for release.
“I think there are two complexities to it; one, it’s an event right now in theaters, right? It’s a communal event that really is working theatrically, and so for us to be able to get the right stories, I think it’s imperative, and to be a little more aggressive in that space.”
He, then, talked about breaking more into the horror genre and producing more content that could meet the high standard set by this particular community. He mentioned that there are two complexities to it, the first being that they have to ensure that they can get the right story for this. The next is that they are trying to be a little more aggressive in that space to be able to make something as significant as they’re trying to.

Netflix Wants To Make An Iconic Horror Villain
Scott Stuber then went on to talk about how the streaming giant is trying to create a project that introduces a character who could be as iconic as Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, Jason, and Chucky. he mentioned this is one of the biggest priorities of the franchise right now, which makes him extremely excited as he is a big fan of horror.
“If you look at its history, which I love horror, I’d like us to find our own Freddy Krueger, our own Jason, our own kind of iconic horror character, and we haven’t really honed in on that yet. So the team is working hard on that because I think there’s a real opportunity there. You know, you’ve got so many great characters.”
He added that the team is working very hard to try to make this happen, as they believe that there is a really big opportunity here for them. Many new projects are coming that show the perfect example of how much horror fans will reward projects that meet their mark of good horror, with the perfect example, being the recent,Five Nights at Freddy’s.
