At CES 2024, premium-quality PC designer MAINGEAR has announced a new way for cable management in desktop PCs. The company has unveiled its MAINGEAR Rear Connection (MG-RG) patent for gaming PC manufacturers. It has collaborated with both MSI and Phanteks to display two desktop gaming PCs at the conference this week. Currently, cable connectors are all placed on the front of the motherboards with some specific boards having awkward placements for things such as fan headers, SATA ports, etc. While thepatentlooks to take pictures from a PC from 2006, it gives an idea as to what placements will go on the rear of the board and how it will be designed.

The idea is to ensure a cable-free appearance for a completely clean aesthetic. Many PC builders obsess over cable management while others find it a daunting task. The cable connectors will both be on the rear and on the underside to help hide everything while adding a variety of benefits. This includes improved air flow for improved cooling and quicker assembly and installation times. MAINGEAR isn’t just going to implement this on its own hardware as it’s aiming to standardize this with PC case and motherboard manufacturers. This design will benefit everyone in the industry.

“CES 2024 marks a milestone moment for MAINGEAR as we redefine gaming PC aesthetics and performance industry-wide. MG-RC represents MAINGEAR’s relentless pursuit of innovation in the PC gaming space, and embodies our mission to create the ultimate gaming experience through superior products and exceptional service,” said Wallace Santos, CEO of MAINGEAR.

The MAINGEAR ZERO Drop

Speaking of MSI and Phanteks, the two new computers that MAINGEAR have announced involve the MG-RC patent and both of these manufacturers. The MAINGEAR ZERO drop is a limited edition rig that is powered by MSI’s B760M Project Zero motherboard that’s housed in the MSI MAG Pano M1000 PZ White chassis. This means players can expect no visible motherboard cables on this compact mini-ATX setup with panoramic glass panels. The graphics card included will be the just announced NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super. The ZERO will drop on January 24 with supplies limited.

The MAINGEAR NV9: Zero Concept

The other computer is a preview of a future desktop gaming PC which offers much more punch. This will be housed in the Phanteks NV9 chassis and adapted with MG-RD compatibility to support the MSI Z790 Project Zero motherboard. MAINGEAR is calling this the NV9: Zero Concept and it’ll include the newly-announced MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Super 16GB Ventus 3X OC GPU, an Intel Core i9-14900K processor and a gigantic 420mm Phanteks Glacier One AiO liquid cooler. To top it off, MAINGEAR is adding an in-case high-definition LCD display that will be fully customizable. This will join the lineup in Q1 2024 with more details closer to launch. Both of these PCs will be showcased at the MSI suite at CES, which is located in The Venetian, Veronese #2403-2406.
