It’s taken 25 years, butHarley Quinnis finally getting her own TV show. Warner Bros. is launching a DC streaming service next year, which still doesn’t have a name or an exact launch date, but as part of the service, aHarley Quinnanimated series is coming. The studio has already committed to a 26-episode order for the half-hour series. The best part? It looks like they may get Margot Robbie to voice the character for the series.
Harley Quinnhas taken many forms over the years after first making her debut inBatman: The Animated Seriesin 1992, but Margot Robbie is who the general public sees as the DC villainess, since Robbie played her inSuicide Squad. While critics generally didn’t like the movie, Robbie was perfect asHarley Quinnand the movie did gangbuster business at the box office. So it would be a credit to the series if they can get her to voice the character for it. While no offer has been made yet, it’s said that Warner Bros. plans to approach her about it.
Though, Margot Robbie has been quite busy as of late, as she’s become a very in-demand actress. There’s alsoSuicide Squad 2and the proposedBirds of Preyspin-off, as well as the Joker vs.Harley Quinnmovie on the table. So those projects could get in the way.
Executive producers Justin Halpern & Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey, who worked on NBC’sPowerless, which was alsoset in the DC universe, are heading up the creative team for theHarley Quinnanimated series.Harley Quinnis said to focus on the character after she finally managed to break away from The Joker, whom she has a very tumultuous relationship with. She’s going to try and make her own way as the “criminal Queenpin of Gotham City.” The show is said to feature characters like Poison Ivy and many other DC characters, both new and old.
Harley Quinnis the third series that Warner Bros. has given the greenlight to for thisnew DC streaming service. The service will also hostYoung Justiceseason 3, which met an unceremonious end to the dismay of many fans after just two seasons on Cartoon Network. The streaming service will also feature aTitansTV series, which will finally bring theTeen Titansto the world of live-action, which is something fans have wanted to see for a very long time. That makes for a pretty appealing initial lineup of shows, assuming the quality is on par with expectations.
There’s no word on when theHarley Quinnseries will debut exactly, but it’s likely to make its way online sometime in 2018.Deadline’sreport makes no mention of who will voiceHarley Quinnif Margot Robbie turns down the gig, but voice actress Tara Strong has voiced the character many times over the years and could conceivably be approached as well.
