Fire Emblem Engagefinds the Divine Dragon battling to prevent Sombron from casting the world into darkness. New allies fight for that noble cause along the way. Support bonds strengthen. Then, near the campaign’s end, it’s possible to take things further than ever with one special ally. Here is our guide to romance inFire Emblem Engage.
Fire Emblem Engageromance guide
Note that “romance” is a strong term for the bond you come to share with your most cherished of allies. The ally gives you a memento to celebrate their place in your life, but it’s not like the game depicts them following you to your bedchamber for some quality together time. Many of the deeper relationships remain purely platonic.
To establish a more intimate relationship with an ally, complete The Connector paralogue and find a Pact Ring in your memento drawer in The Somniel, which you should then give to your beloved. The paralogue in question doesn’t become available until Chapter 23, following some key plot events. You will find it near the center of the world map. Its late arrival means you have plenty of time to get to know the various characters before making a decision.

You can’t hand over the Pact Ring unless you have already increased your support level to A with that character. If you are having trouble reaching the desired rank, the quickest way is to buy and give them gifts they love. You can also fight with them by your side in battle.
Once you make your choice and the individual in question has the mandatory rank, hand over the ring. They will leave a character-specific gift on the nightstand in Alear’s bedchamber. You can give the ring to only one character in a single run through the campaign.

The most significant reward when you bond with a character is that they gain the Boon of Elyos effect while engaged with Alear in battle. It grants a bonus to critical hits and dodges equaling two times the number of allies that have already acted that turn.
Boon of Elyos aside, there are no major rewards for establishing your intimate bond. The gift you receive remains on display in your bedroom. A fourth page about that character also appears in the Ally Notebook, with special artwork. That’s all very sweet, but romance is not a feature inFire Emblem Engagethe way it has sometimes been in other games.
