Eva Greenrecently found a series of controversial leaked WhatsApp messages hitting the headlines in the wake of her lawsuit against White Lantern Films for their refusal to pay the actress her fee of $1 million following the scrapping of her movie,A Patriot. Although the case originally started in 2020, a series of leaked messages from Green aimed at members of the team working on the film brought it back to the public’s attention right when the actress appeared in court for the ongoing legal case.
The Guardianreported that Green was asked under oath about the messages while appearing in court, which included blunt comments that one of the movie’s investors was a “f*****g nightmare” and the crew members were “peasants.” Addressing the nature and purpose of the messages, Green responded to questioning by saying:

“Sometimes you say things you don’t mean. You hate a person and say: ‘I’m going to kill this person,’ are you going to kill this person? No. It’s a cry from the heart.' There is the famous example of Daniel Craig saying: ‘I would rather slash my wrists than do another Bond movie. But did he slash his wrists? No, he made another Bond movie and didn’t slash his wrists. Sometimes you say things because you are under extreme pressure. They just come out. I know this story well because I know Daniel.”

As part of the court proceedings, Green gave evidence in the case earlier this week when she spoke about the production initially giving her a chance to play a role that she was very excited about. She said it was “very exciting, a role of a soldier, which I have never played before. It was about climate change. It was very dear to my heart.”
However, she continued to detail that the training time on the movie for stunts was constantly being cut ahead of the production getting underway. She felt the producers did not want to pay the regular industry rates for “quality crew.” While speaking about her feelings towards the production, Green directly referenced the shooting on the set of Rust, which has this week seen Alec Baldwin beingofficially charged with involuntary manslaughter. Green told the court:
“You look at what happened with Alec Baldwin on the movie Rust, the producers cutting corners, no safety measures and a young woman got killed.”
While Green originally instigated the lawsuit against White Lantern Films, they, in turn, counterclaimed against thePenny Dreadfulactress in the belief that she pulled out of the movie for no reason and was in breach of her contract with them, thus causing the film to be abandoned. There has been no indication of which way the case will go so far. Still, once this is all resolved, Green will be back to work onDirty Angels, a movie that will team her up withCasino Royaledirector Martin Campbell for a story about female soldiers who disguise themselves as nurses to save a group of children who are caught in a fight between the Taliban and ISIS.
