Madness is all too common in the world ofElden Ring, althoughElden Ring Nightreignmay be a different story. While there are areas that are certainly infested with madness, it’s far from the most populated ailment that plaguesLimveld. Regardless, it is still one of the scarier aspects of Elden Ring given how easy it is to build up, and it doesn’t help one of the bosses inflict you with it. This is what Libra, Creature of Night has in store for the player, as this goat-like monster wishes to strike a deal, but curses you in the process.

Libra Moveset

Description

When Libra crashes a rune in his hand, a giant glyph below every player’s feet will appear. Standing in this will deal large amounts of damage along with give you Madness meter.

Shotgun Blast

Libra will summon a rune in front of him that will shoot Madness pellets at a player.

Rotating Shotgun Blast

Similar to the Shotgun Blast, this projectile will now rotate around in a 360-degree motion.

Teleport Surprise

Libra will teleport to a random player and explode on top of them.

Shower of Madness

Libra will throw something into the sky that will rain down small madness pellets.

Meditation

Going into a meditative state, Libra will summon runes around the arena that need to be broken.

If you successfully counter his meditation, Libra will go into a rage, performing multiple melee attacks and even unleashing sticky madness explosions from the ground and the sky.

Madness State

Libra will go into a madness state where he slams his staff on the ground multiple times, inflicting madness on everyone around him. He will also place little madness pebbles on the ground to be picked up to help the player with Madness buildup.

This goat-headed boss, who almost looks like a Basilisk in disguise, is one of the harder bosses in Elden Ring Nightreign, not necessarily for its Madness-inducing effects, but for how surprisingly nimble and mobile he is. He will constantly teleport away and put up little glyphs on the ground that will do massive amounts of damage.

One of the deadliest attacks is the latter attack. You can identify this by watching Libra, Creature of the Night, and if you see him bring one of his hands up with a rune that he will break. Upon breaking this, it will summon giant glyphs below your feet, with only a second to spare to get out of it. Be aware, if you can’t get out, you can iframe through it with a well-timed roll, but you will have to wait a second before doing so as it doesn’t immediately explode.

A very annoying mechanic is Libra will stick out his hand and summon a rune that will consistently blast Madness projectiles forward. This wouldn’t be so bad except that he starts to rotate it in a 360-degree spin. This will likely cause a good number of deaths because it’s easy to forget about the attack, and it doesn’t help that it does an immense amount of damage if you stand in it for too long.

Nightreign-Fissure-Fea

At random points throughout the fight, Libra will go into a meditation stance and runes will appear around him. All you need to do is walk through them, or for the ones in the air, shoot them if you have a ranged character like Iron Eye. The further you go into the fight, the shorter amount of time Libra will give you to destroy these runes. If you succeed in breaking all of them, Libra will go engraged and become a lot faster and more aggressive with his melee attacks. If you fail, he will gain a buff for a little over a minute, which will limit the amount of damage you do.

The other major mechanic is when Libra gets on his knees and slams his staff into the ground. The surrounding arena will glow yellow with little shards appearing in droves. You will also gain an immense amount of madness during this time. What you need to do is quickly pick up as many shards as you can by running through them, reducing the Madness buildup. Even after the mechanic concludes, the shards will be left on the field, allowing you to get rid of any Madness buildup left.
