Created by Eiichiro Oda Chapter #1119, “Emet”

So far, the Five Elders have without a doubt been thetoughest opponents Luffy has ever faced. The Five Elders' monstrous transformations give each of them a powerful set of abilities that have proven difficult to get past, even with the ridiculous powers of Gear Five and the hefty conqueror’s haki-infused attacks that come with it.

Saint Warcury, in particular, has proven to be especiallyresistant to Luffy’s attacks, no matter what he does. In fact, punching him oddly caused Luffy pain on more than one occasion, so much so that Luffy’s new plan has become to fling the Five Elders away as far as possible. As such, it is very shocking to see the Iron Giant able to not only hurt Saint Warcury but also break his tusk with seemingly no effort at all.

The Iron Giant has single-handedlymanaged to make the Five Elders look much weakerthan they initially seemed, while also proving that there is indeed a way to defeat them that Luff has simply yet to discover. It is difficult to say what exactly contributes to the Iron Giant’s overwhelming strength, though the fact the robot seems to move in response to Nika’s heartbeat suggests the answer is already lying dormant within Luffy as well.

It is also possible that the Iron Giant was constructed using some mysterious Ancient Kingdom technology, like the powerful Ancient Weapons. This would yet again explain why the Ancient Kingdom was so powerful that the twenty kingdoms had to form an alliance to take them down, with the Iron Giant serving as only one example of the dangerous technology at the Ancient Kingdom’s disposal.

The Iron Giant’s Name May Hint at Its Purpose and Mission From Joyboy

Possibly the biggest piece of news in chapter #1119 is the revelation of the Iron Giant’s name, whose meaning could be the key to figuring out many of the mysteries surrounding the peculiar robot. Emet, is in fact a Hebrew word that means “faithfulness” or better yet, “truth.”

If so, the things Joyboy has asked the Iron Giant to do when the time is right could be to defeat the Five Elders andreveal the truth about the Void Centuryand the wickedness of the World Government. This would also tie in with why the Iron Giant attacked Mariejois 200 years ago and why it apologized to Joyboy after waking up again on Egghead for failing to complete the mission.

On the other hand, when the word “emet” is used to describe a person, it usually means one who is reliable, trustworthy, or one that supports another. In this case, Joyboy’s mission for the Iron Giant could be to support the new Joyboy or Sun God Nika when the time comes and one comes along needing its help, much like Luffy does at present. This would explain why the Iron Giant’s immediate response to this mission left by Joybpy was to punch Saint Warcury, who was threatening to stop Luffy, aka the new Joyboy, from escaping Egghead.

Of course, this raises the interesting question of whether another person had managed to awaken the Nika Fruit 200 years ago when the Iron Giant attacked the Holy Land. Clearly, there is plenty more to the mystery of the Iron Giant than meets the eye. There is still too much fans do not know about the Nika Fruit, Joyboy, and the world ofOne Pieceas a whole. For now, theIronGianthas at least given fans hope for the Five Elders' defeat when Luffy has his inevitable rematch in the Final Saga.
