In thisElden Ring: Night Reignvideo we’re going to be taking a look atThe IronEyeand how to play him in combat. We’ll cover his stats, skills, recommended relics, weapons to look out for, and how to use him effectively in a party. So, if you’re playing the The Ironeye or planning to learn this class, this video is for you.

General Description

The IronEye, as his name suggests, is a very bow-focused character and he will almost exclusively use a bow. This does not mean that he can’t use melee weapons either because he has a very high dexterity stat—we’ll get into that in just a minute—but predominantly, if you’re going to be playing as IronEye, you’re probably going to be playing as a person that uses a bow.

And there have been some changes to the way the bow operates inElden Ring: Night Reign, and the two major changes are that you may’t jump and shoot and land and shoot instantly anymore with short bows—that’s been removed from the game.

And you also have infinite ammo, and there aren’t different arrow types in the game, so operating the bow is different..

First of all, not having to worry about ammo is—thank God—that’s such a huge improvement.

But you won’t be doing the jump and shoot, land and shoot attack pattern anymore. And you might think, “Well, that sucks. Now I’m just going to shoot slower,” but IronEye actually shoots the bow faster than any other character inElden Ring: Night Reign.

He actually has a four-hit sort of combo or attack chain that he’ll do, where he’ll shoot four arrows very, very quickly compared to other characters, and then he’ll have a little bit of a lull in between, and then he’ll begin that four-shot again.

So if you’re using a bow with another character, you’re going to shoot much slower and you’re not going to be able to take advantage of the jump-and-shoot and land-and-shoot, although sprinting and rolling and shooting is still a thing, so you can do that on those characters—and you can on for this class as well.

But predominantly withThe IronEye, you’re going to be moving around and just shooting with R1, because you’ll fire more rapidly, and you don’t have to worry about ammo. So if you want to play a bow user, you’re going to want to playIronEye.

Stats & What That Means

The Ironeyemain stats are kind of in the middle forHP and FP,meaning he’s not going to have a ton of health or a ton of mana to cast skills and things like that. And he has a decent amount of stamina, which is great because oftenIronEyeis pretty much regulated by the amount of stamina that he has—like, he usually just chews through his stamina, and he usually has to wait for his stamina to replenish to be able to keep attacking.

Other stats:he’s gotC in strength, he’s gotA in dexterity(which is really good, which means he has a lot of dexterity), he’s gotD in intelligence and faith(so he’s not going to be great at spellcasting), and he has B in arcane, which is pretty decent.

This means that he’s going to excel with weapons that scale withdexterity, and these are the bows in the game. Most of the bows haveS scalingin Elden Ring: Night Reign, even though they didn’t in Elden Ring. So any bows that he uses, he’s going to take advantage of that dexterity stat. So that’s something that’s worth noting.

Intelligence

And the other thing is any melee weapons that scale withdexterityhe can use very, very effectively.

These are typically likeCurved Swords, someStraight Swords, and other fast-attacking weapons generally havehigh dexterity scaling. Additionally, because he has decent arcane, he can use weapons that scale with arcane pretty well.

These are pretty rare in my experience, so there’s not a ton of weapons, but it can impact the amount of likeBlood Lossbuildup you do or Poison buildup you do with weapons that have those. So that’s worth noting as well.

And you’re able to actually go into the visual codex under weapons and see what each weapon scales with in this game to get an idea of the sort of weapons you should be looking for when playing him, if you do want a melee weapon.

One of the major drawbacks of IronEye, though, is that thefirst level doesn’t give as much HP as some other characters get. And this is predominantly because he’s a ranged, squishy character, so they don’t want him to be super tanky.

But you don’t gain as much HP on that first level that other characters will gain—and some of them gainalmost like 80% of their HP again. Iron ye gets markedly less than that. But nonetheless, it’s still important to get that first level as quick as you can in order to have more health.

Skills and How to Use Them

The Ironeye is a high-DPS, bow-focused class inElden Ring: Night Reignknown for his exceptional ranged pressure and utility.

Eagle-Eye:Passive Ability

Obtain items more often from foes

This is your passive ability that makes him get items when he kills enemies—that they’re more likely to drop them. It also applies to his party. So, ifIronEyeis in your party and you’re playing as a different character, you will still get more drops.

This is something that you should note as a player—that to be on the lookout when you defeat enemies, because typically when you defeat enemies when you’re playingNightReign, you typically get nothing most of the time.

But when you have IronEye in the party, it’s much more regular. So he’s worth bringing along just for that passive benefit alone, because sometimes you can get some good gear.

Marking: Character Skill

Cut foes with dagger, creating temporary weak point

This skill has about a12-second cooldown, so you’re able to use it about every 12 seconds. But it really has three applications in my experience.

A lot of times you have aggro playingIronEyebecause you’re continuously hitting the target more than just about any other character, and this can help keep you alive and avoid attacks.

Single Shot: Ultimate Art

Fire powerful arrow that surpasses sound and ignores any defense

This skills is really good for, in my experience, just clearing lots of enemies simultaneously. There are a lot of boss fights where there are lots of enemies, or maybe just before a boss fight where you have to kill a bunch of enemies to get to the boss fight—there are great opportunities for this.

It has a really wide radius and it can kind of like interrupt boss attacks as well when you hit them with it, which is really nice. And if you hold it, you’re able to actually move the direction of it once in terms of like which direction you want to fire. So maybe you’re about to fire on a boss in front of you and they charge behind you—you could turn around real quick and still hit them.

But the best application of this is definitely for like AoE clearing where there are like camps on the map where there are lots of enemies grouped together. It can save your team a lot of time that they might spend like 30 seconds or 40 seconds clearing a camp by just wiping them out in one fell swoop.

Suggested Weapons & Ideal Run

For this class you’re obviously going for a bow—otherwise you’d be playing a different character.

I like to useGreatbowsin order to useRain of Arrowssince they hit much harder than regular bows do in terms of that, but they have a slow attack speed compared to the bow that IronEye will be using would generally recommend using a bow that has a passive on it.

If you look at the passive of the weapon, it’s usually something like“on crit applies bleed,”“on crit applies fire,” “on crit applies poison,”something like that.

Its because of the amount of hitsIronEyegets with his bow attack, you’re going to get lots of crits—especially when using your skill to stagger or break enemies—so you can take advantage of these passives quite regularly.

If you’re applyingfire damagewith a passive on crit, and you’re critting like crazy because you’re shooting with your four-hit combo over and over and over, you’re going to be applying fire damage quite often. That’s going to build up that status, and you’re going to get the fire explosion that occurs once that bar fills up.

That’s really effective, and you can even find relics that increase the buildup of that status effect or increase the damage of that status effect.

I found a bow that did more damage withpoison buildup, and I also found a relic that increased the buildup of poison. So I leaned heavily into that. And if you have all three of those in place, you just start melting enemies with poison because it just gets applied so quickly and deals so much damage. So that’s something you can keep an eye out for and kind of build into that.

Something about bows is that even though they have weapon skills like they did inElden Ring, because of the nature of bows in this game—when IronEye is using them and firing much more quickly—a lot of the weapon skills are kind of useless.

They take longer to use than just normally firing, they consume FP (which you don’t have a ton of or many easy ways to replenish like inElden Ring),and overall they interrupt your flow.

In this Elden Ring Nightreign Executor Guide, I’ll be sharing tips and tricks for the Executor Nightfarer

So most of the time, you’re not going to use your weapon skill on your bow unless it’s something likeRain of Arrows, which I think is probably one of the only ones worth using.

That’s because it can deal a lot of damage to big targets if you have the right spacing.

It’s a great wayto dump FP quicklyand get a burst of damage into a boss.

Suggested Relics

About relics on IronEye, what you really want to look out for are relics that give you astatus effecton your starting weapon—like poison, bleed, something like that—so that you can immediately start applying status effects. This really helps, especially on early bosses, whether it’s a field boss or an end-of-night boss. Poison is particularly strong in this game, and you can get that pretty early on, so looking out for status effects on your bow is a good strategy.

Additionally, anything that affectsendurance or stamina recoveryis valuable. There are relics that give you stamina back while attacking, allowing you to keep up your offensive output. Relics that boost endurance will raise your stamina pool overall, which is great for Iron Eye’s fast and frequent attack style.

IncreasingDexterityis also excellent, since bows scale with it. Dexterity will directly boost your damage output. These are all solid traits to look for when choosing relics. Of course, there are alsocharacter-specific relicsyou’ll eventually unlock—some that, for instance, extend the duration of weak points when you use Marking. I have one that gives Endurance, Dexterity, and the weak point extension—it’s incredibly strong. That one unlocks after defeating mini-bosses, so it’s something you’ll find later into the game.

So to summarize: you should be looking forstatus effects, stamina regen, andDexterity scaling—anything that supports Iron Eye’s high-mobility, high-DPS style.

Weapon Progression

As you progress through a run, you’re typically going to stick with your starting weapon once you’ve enhanced it with a status effect or damage buff. I highly recommend upgrading it usingSmithing Stones, which you can buy from a merchant. You can also dip into a mine when you find one, quickly kill the boss inside, and get apurple upgrade stone, which allows you to take a weapon from +1 to +2, assuming you’ve already bought a +1 upgrade from the merchant.

This is a great way to keep using a weapon that already has a strong passive on it, especially sincestatus effects are very strong. That’s a completely valid strategy in this game.

That said, you’ll still want to look for other bows that might carryelemental or status damage typesrelevant to the boss you’re facing. For example, if the game tells you a boss is weak to fire, you might want to swap to a bow that has fire on it. Same goes for bleed or any other weakness.

While it’s good to have avariety of bowsearly on, once you get a bow with a reliable status effect, your best move is usually to keep upgrading it or replace it only with another bow that also has a strong passive. You might get lucky and find a bow with bleed or sleep, and in many cases, that’ll be better than your starter simply due to raw damage output or synergy with your team.

Bleed, in particular, can be reapplied many times—and if other players in your group are using bleed too, it stacks fast and does big damage.

Party Composition

The IronEyefits really well into either a two-melee group or a melee-plus-range setup—he’s very versatile.

You can even have more than one IronEye in the party because he’s not as gear-intensive as some of the other classes. If he gets a status effect on his weapon and upgrades it, that alone is often enough to make him highly effective. He doesn’t need to collect a ton of bows throughout the run.

This means that if you have two or even threeIronEyesin a group, you’re not all competing for the same loot. You can definitely stackIronEyeswith no problem, unlike other classes—likethe Recluse—where players might be fighting over staves due to the importance of spell availability.

Ideal team comps:

I highly recommend having at least one in your group. He provides a steady source of sustained damage and can consistently pressure enemies.

Comparedto Recluse, who may offer more burst,IronEyeshines in reliability. He’s a great pick for stable runs, allowing you to progress further without having to rely on perfect loot drops. He just plays really, really well.

This is probably my favorite class in the game—I absolutely love playing him. I enjoyed using bows inElden Ringeven back when ammo was limited and crafting was necessary, and now it’s even more fun withIronEyeinNight Reign. If you haven’t tried him yet, I highly recommend giving him a shot.
