Loot Reborn, the fourth season ofDiablo 4, has completely overhauled most of the game’s progression systems and upgrade mechanics to grant players even more freedom for their builds on both the seasonal and eternal realms.

Once you’ve obtained a solid set of gear and have unlocked enough upgrades for your character, you’re able to start Materworking your equipment to make it even better. To start Masterworking in Diablo 4, you must first acquire Masterworking materials.

Where to Find Masterworking Materials in Diablo 4

Players can obtain Masterworking materialsby participating in The Pit, a new location added to Diablo 4 with the launch of season four. Reaching the end of The Pit and defeating the boss fast enough will reward you with Masterworking Materials like Obducite, Ingolith, and Neathiron.

If the Mastery timer expires before you finish running through the pit and defeating the boss, you will still receive loot butwon’t receive any Masterworking materials.

It’s important to note thatdying will reduce the timer by a certain amount, making it tougher to complete The Pit within the time limit. For example, the first death will result in a deduction of30 seconds, the second death will deduct60 seconds, and the third (and all deaths after that) will deduct90 secondsfrom the timer. As you can see, death makes a big difference in whether you receive Masterworking materials or not.

What is Masterworking in Diablo 4?

Masterworking is anew crafting systemdesigned for the late game of Diablo 4 thatcan increase the value of affixes. There are 12 upgrade ranks associated with the Masterworking system, and a single affix will get massively upgraded afterevery four upgrades. All other ranks slightly increase the value of affixes. In other words, you want to reach rank 4, 8, and 12 to get that massive boost in value for an affix.

If you want to perfect your build and make your character as strong as possible, you’ll need to farm a ton of rare materials in addition to Masterworking materials. Now that you’re a Masterworking expert, it’s time todive into The Pitand try your hardest to beat it before the timer runs out.
