Two developers that worked on Diablo 2 have begun working on a new IP under new studio Moon Beast Productions.
Diablo II Veterans Are Working on New ARPG IP Under Moon Beast Productions
Former Diablo 2 developers, lead artist and lore writer Phil Shenk, and lead designer Peter Hu have set out to develop their own new title under the newly formed Moon Beast Productions.
The two haven’t shared what the game is but have detailed it will include “creativity and deep system design”, as well as staying true to their “ARPG roots”. While of course encompassing their history working on Diablo 2, the game sets to bring “big innovations with incredible potential”.

The duo seems to be quite the power team as Shenk describes the combination of Hu’s design, as well as a passion for world-building, is just the recipe for “an unbeatable combination”. Hu has had a 25-year career, after working on Diablo 2 has gone on to co-found Flagship Studios, Runic Games (Torchlight and sequel Torchlight 2) and Rhino Games. He was also the creative director of Marvel Heroes at Gazillion.
Shenk also spent a similar amount of time in the industry, was the lead artist of Diablo II, followed by becoming a lead designer on its Lord of Destruction expansion.
There doesn’t seem to be much detail on the game they are currently working on but the official website states they are recruiting for a couple of positions.
Diablo II Resurrectedwas released last year in September, giving a refreshed experience to the classic ARPG. It also came with a few updates such asnew Runewordsandbalance changes. The game not only launched inviting veteran players to relive their nostalgia , but also attracted newer players into the classic ARPG. It will be great to see what the devs of Moon Beast are working on, and what this new IP will have to offer.
