The latest update for Dead Cells brings some new additions including mobs inspired by boss moves, a deadly frying pan weapon and more.
Motion Twin has been updating their action-platformer with rogue-like features Dead Cells, adding new content with free updates which includedRise of the Giant. The 14th update titled “Who’s the Boss” brings mobs that mimic different boss moves to help prepare players for the upcoming fights, adding a bit of training preparation before the real deal. One example is the Automaton who uses a move from the Time Keeper, a yellow light of death. These mobs will appear in the biome before the boss fight.
Further additions including weapons that are influenced by iconic bosses, giving players a taste of “revenge” by letting them adopt boss skills. But that’s not all, now players can pick up a long awaited frying pan to whack enemies about with, because who doesn’t enjoy a good game with frying pan action? The item was requested following theanimated trailerthe developer released previously.
The update also comes with 3 news tactics mutations centred around melee:
-Scheme: Using a skill gives a flat bonus damage to your next melee attack.
-Initiative: Gives a flat bonus damage to your first melee attack against an enemy.
-Predator: Killing an enemy with a melee attack makes you invisible during X seconds.
The 14th update will be coming to Xbox One, PS4 and Switch as soon as it clears certification, which Motion Twin says will take between 2 to 3 weeks. The developer also has it’s eye on further development ideas. There is a dedicated team under Motion Twin called Evil Empire that will continue to work on their platformer title. According to an article by Eurogamer, they will still be working onDead Cells:
What this all really means is that there will be more Dead Cells, a second Motion Twin game and eventually a completely new IP from Evil Empire, so hopefully it’ll be a win win for everyone.
