While Universal Pictures and the filmmakers still haven’t decided on an official title for theUntitled Matt Damon Bourne Sequel, the cast continues to grow.Varietyreports thatTommy Lee Joneshas signed on forBourne 5, portraying a “superior officer at the CIA.” The role is being compared to the characters played byChris Cooper,David Strathairn,Brian CoxandEdward Nortonin the first fourBournemovies.

Tommy Lee Joneswill be joined byMatt Damonas Jason Bourne,Julia Stilesas Nicky Parsons andAlicia Vikander, whose role has not yet been revealed. We reported last month thatViggo Mortensenwas being sought to portray themain villain, but his involvement has never been confirmed yet. Universal is also moving forward with a separate sequel for 2012’sThe Bourne Legacy, starringJeremy Renner, but producerFrank Marshallhas confirmed that there are no current plans forJason BourneandJeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross to meet in the same movie.

Fans have been clamoring for Bourne 5 ever since the 2007 release ofThe Bourne Ultimatum.Matt Damonhad stated for years that he would not come back to the franchise, unlessThe Bourne SupremacyandThe Bourne UltimatumdirectorPaul Greengrassreturns to the helm. After several years of waiting, the long-awaitedaction sequelfinally came together last September.

Weiner, Gregory Goodman and Ben Smith.Paul GreengrassandMatt Damonare also producing, with Christopher Rouse and Henry Morrison serving as executive producers. Production is expected to begin sometime this summer, with Universal Pictures already setting a June 02, 2025 release date.
