The time for holiday movies is upon us and Netflix is looking to spread some holiday with their recently releasedBest. Christmas. Ever! The holiday comedy follows longtime frenemies, portrayed byHeather GrahamandBrandy Norwood, who are reunited during the holidays in a twist of fate. Their characters are polar opposites; Norwood’s Jackie is festive and optimistic, while Graham’s Charlotte is a self-critical skeptic who is not Christmastime’s biggest fan. As it turns out, both Graham and Norwood felt connected to theirBest. Christmas. Ever!characters, something they discussed duringan interview with MovieWeb.

“Well, I absolutely loved the script as a movie, and what it was about: family, reconnecting with friends, and spending the holidays with people that you love. I absolutely love my character. She has a bubbly, positive outlook on life, and just tries to find the good in everything.”

Graham as Felicity in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me

Graham who describes herself as “kind of a Scrooge,” found the film relatable for a very different reason:

“I related to the story in that I don’t really like Christmas. I’m kind of a Scrooge and I find Christmas annoying.” She adds: “I can relate to my character comparing herself to other people and being hard on herself. I always aspire to have a more positive attitude like Brandy’s character, but I’m not always 100% successful with that.”

Of course, just like Scrooge did inA Christmas Carol, there’s a lesson to learn here (it is, after all, a holiday film, and a satisfying conclusion is expected), and Graham loves that her character is able to get to a better place by the film’s end:

“I love the journey that she goes on and the end [where she lets] go of her negativity to really embrace all the good things in her life.”
